10-Minute Cardio and Endurance Workout

To move better, you don’t just need to move more, you also need to move faster. Cardio sessions are designed to bring up your endurance, and that’s a huge deal for many reasons. 

Research suggests cardio exercise is great for your heart, but for other systems in your body too. This type of fitness improves how you use oxygen, for example, and that helps you breathe better. It also increases blood flow throughout your body, including your brain and your digestive system.    

In this workout led by SilverSneakers fitness expert Larysa DiDio, we combine endurance with the other pillars of fitness: strength, since better muscle mass can help you move better; balance that can increase how much cardio you can do confidently; and flexibility to maintain joint health as you increase mobility.  

How to Use This Workout 

You’ll just need yourself, a sturdy chair, and some open floor space. When you’re ready, press play and follow along as Larysa takes you through this short and sweet cardio routine. As you move, remember to stand tall with your shoulders back and down and your core engaged  

How you use this cardio workout is up to you. You can cue it up on those days that you know you want to move — but just aren’t feeling it. Or you can make a goal to move with Larysa for 10 minutes every other day. 

As always, safety is key. The exercises here may be different or more advanced than those you’ll experience in a SilverSneakers LIVE class. If you have a chronic condition, an injury, or balance issues, talk to your doctor about how you can exercise safely.
